How to replace an MTN or Airtel SIM card if you lost your national ID

SIM card replacement is where let us say your phone gets stolen. The number that you were using before your phone gets stolen is the one that you continue using after replacing that line at either an MTN or Airtel service center.

Additionally, your mobile money account balance also stays the same.

By using a NIRA letter, you will be able to replace a sim card (if the ID is lost).

It is important to note that this only applies to the national ID you registered the SIM card with.

How to get a NIRA letter

a) Firstly, go to the NIRA website, and make an appointment.

b) Secondly, go to the NIRA brand and them the reason you are there. In this case, you want a letter addressed to either MTN or Airtel for a Sim Card replacement.

c) Wait for the letter to be made and then go back with it to either MTN or Airtel and get your Sim Card replaced.
