Method 1: Lock WhatsApp Conversation
WhatsApp has an additional privacy feature called “Lock Feature” aiming to bolster security and enrich user satisfaction. In this guide, we show you to lock a WhatsApp chat on your phone with your Face ID or Passcode.
To lock a WhatsApp Conversation.
For Androids;
- Go to the conversation that you want to lock and tap on the chat profile to launch chat info.
- On the Chat info menu, scroll down to and select Chat Lock and enable the option.
- Select either Lock This Chat with Fingerprint or Lock This Chat with Face ID. Use what you prefer or the lock option supported by your mobile device.
- Hereafter, the locked chat with be forwarded to the “Locked Chat Folder” just above the achieved chats on WhatsApp. Once you tap on the Locked Chat option, you will have to enter the PIN.
On iPhones;
- Go to the WhatsApp chat that you would like to lock.
- Swipe left on the Chat and Choose the More option.
- Tap on Lock Chat and the Continue.
- Your Face ID or PIN code will be requested and thus the conversation will be locked.

Method 2: Archive your WhatsApp Chats
Archiving WhatsApp chats is a feature that allows users to hide specific conversations from the main chat list without deleting them. When you archive a chat, it moves to a separate “Archived Chats” section within WhatsApp. Unlike locked chats that require a Passcode, fingerprint or Face ID, archived chats remain accessible, and you can unarchive them at any time to bring them back to the main chat list. This feature is useful for organizing your chats and keeping your main chat list clutter-free without losing access to important conversations.
- Go to the Chat that you want to archive.
- Slide to the left and select the Archive option.
- The chat will be archived. To unarchive, go to the archive chat, then slide left and select Archive.
Method 3: Delete a Chat on WhatsApp
The two other steps will not definitely, hide a conversation for you. To be on the safe side, always choose to delete a chat so that no evidence is left behind. The “Delete Chat” feature on WhatsApp allows users to remove a chat conversation from their chat list. When you delete a chat, the entire conversation, including all messages, media, and other content exchanged within that chat, is removed from your device. However, it’s important to note that deleting a chat does not remove it from the other participants’ devices. They will still have the chat history unless they delete it themselves.
Alternatively, if you can not keep up with the deletes, just enable Disappearing messages on WhatsApp. For safer lock, set up a Passcode for your WhatsApp account.
Method 4: Hide a conversation on WhatsApp (GB)
Note that this trick is effective and will completely hide the selected chat from your main chats permanently until you decide to unhide it one day. Unfortunately, it works with GB WhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus only. I will demonstrate using GB WhatsApp.
1. Download and install GB WhatsApp on your device. This type of WhatsApp is unofficial modded WhatsApp and can be installed on any Android Smartphone but it’s not on Play Store. You may download the latest version from Google.
2. I assume the download and installation is successful, now log in to GB WhatsApp with your known contact and verify it like you always do on the usual WhatsApp.
3. You must restore all your messages first on GB WhatsApp, and then the app will open into your main chat. GB WhatsApp has the same features and interfaces as the usual WhatsApp although it has extra features such as deleting a sent message which affects the recipient of the message too and many more.
4. After completing the first phase, then check for the contact you want to hide, long press on it, and click on the menu options which are in the form of 3 vertical dots.
5. There you will see an option Hide for hiding the chat. Click on it, if it is your first time to hide a chat, you will be requested to input the password in the form of a pattern or a PIN you will use to unlock your hidden chat list.
6. If you would like to access your hidden chat, you may have to click on WhatsApp on the main screen, input your password and the hidden chat list will open.
7. It will require you to unlock whenever you want to access your hidden list. This means no one unauthorized may be able to see your hidden list at any one moment.
8. You can use the previous method if you are not able to install GB WhatsApp, but if you asked me which, I’d recommend GB WhatsApp for its advanced features.
