Ever tried sharing your photos on a particular platform and hit a dead end because the picture format cannot be supported? Well, if we are being honest most of us rarely think about the final format our photos are saved in very often. As long as the photo can be shared or uploaded on Facebook and Instagram, most people are fine. However, if you are using an iPhone, you may occasionally bump into an odd disturbance when trying to upload a photo to certain sites. To solve the incompatibility issue, you need to save your iPhone photos in JPEG format, not HEIF or HEIC.
JPEG is a widely accepted format on different platforms. Unfortunately, iPhones no longer save their photos in JPEG format by default but instead in HIEF/HIEC format. HEIF or HEIC is a high-efficiency image file. The format was designed to create photos with the same quality level as JPG half the file size. Apple adopted HEIC in 2017, as part of IOS 11, which means any photo taken by IOS 11 or later, has likely been saved in a HEIC format. Before checking out this article detailing how you can save iPhone photos in HEIC, you might not have had any issues with the format. Since the HEIC format is not widely accepted by different platforms, you will need to switch to a more compatible format.
