MTN Data gifting is back and better than ever. With the MTN Data gifting service, you can send data bundles to your other smartphones, modems, and tablets. Using this service, you will pay for their Data bundle.

Here are the four steps to using the MTN Data Gifting service:

  1. Dial *131*7# and then select 6 from the options menu.
  2. To transfer data, select 1 and click send.
  3. Type the receiver’s phone number and click send
  4. Select the amount of data you want to share and click send.

Note that you can only share data twice per day, and the most you can share per day is 1GB.

Method 2: Share Data (Postpaid subscribers only)

Follow the steps below to use MTN Data Share:

  • Step 1: Turn on a data plan that works for you from the table below.
  • Step 2: Dial *131*2*1# or text REG to 131 to sign up for MTN Data Share. You will get a unique security PIN.
  • Step 3: Change the PIN that the system gave you to a new one that is easy to remember by dialing *131*2*5# or sending a text message. Change both the OLD PIN and NEW PIN to 131. Change 0000 1234 to 13:1, where 0000 is your old PIN and 1234 is your new PIN.
  • Step 4: After changing the PIN, you will need to add beneficiaries to your MTN shared Data Bundle account by using the USSD menu *131*2*3# or by texting Add to 131. You can choose up to 5 recipients.
  • Step 5: Once you’ve added beneficiaries, you can share your available data bundle with them by sending the keyword “Share” to 131 or by dialing the USSD code “*131*2*4#.”
