Before Resetting, Use this Trouble Shooting Tips for your Apple TV Remote

Prior to initiating a reset for your Apple TV remote, we suggest attempting a few preliminary steps. Firstly, ensure that there are no obstructions obstructing the line of sight between the remote and the front of your Apple TV, television, receiver, or soundbar.

Retrieve the Apple TV remote and connect it to a power source using either a USB-C or Lightning cable, depending on the model. Allow it to charge for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Subsequently, disconnect your Apple TV from the wall power outlet. Wait for a duration of at least six seconds before reconnecting it. This action will restart the streaming box and verify the absence of any hardware issues.

If the remote remains unresponsive, it is then appropriate to proceed with the reset process.

Reset Apple TV Remote

  • Simultaneously press and hold the TV and Volume Down buttons for approximately 5 seconds. Observe the status light on your Apple TV as it turns off and on.
  • Subsequently, release the buttons and allow a brief period of 5 to 10 seconds to elapse. At this point, a notification reading “Connection Lost” will be displayed on your TV screen.
  • The completion of the process will be indicated by the appearance of a notification on the screen stating “Connected.” Proceed to test the functionality of the remote.

Quick Note: While there may be variations among modern Apple TV remotes, the reset procedure remains consistent.

If the issue persists even after a reset, you can attempt re-pairing the Apple TV remote.

To initiate the process, position the remote approximately three inches away from the Apple TV. For the older Apple TV remote equipped with a glass touchpad, press and hold the Menu and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. For the larger model featuring a click wheel, press and hold the Back and Volume Up buttons for the same duration.

During the pairing process, you may be prompted to place the remote on top of the Apple TV for successful completion of the pairing.
