This guide will show you how to turn on or turn off personalized search results in Google.
By now, it is no secret that Google personalizes search results for individuals. The result personalization is affected by location, search history, and search settings. If you are signed in to Google, Google can personalize your search results only when web results are enabled. However, if you are signed out from your Google account, Google can customize your search results using up to 180 days of past search information linked to an anonymous cookie on your browser.
Personal results in search include;
- Auto-complete predictions from your search history, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Personal answers based on info in your Google Account, like ‘my flights’ from Gmail or ‘directions home’ from Maps.
- Recommendations for you based on activity in your Google Account, like Discover stories, ‘what to watch’ or ‘where to eat’
