If you use the Netflix app on your Android TV, you must have seen the Netflix screen Saver which basically rotates through TV shows and movies. For those that like the feature, you could be expectant about when it will turn on, and for those who do not want the Netflix Screen saver, you could be wondering about how you will be able to turn it off.
The Netflix screen saver discovery feature is aimed at promoting its original programming to users who are watching via an app on their television. The screen saver feature showing different Netflix movies or series will only pop up when you leave the Netflix application idle.
There are two ways your Netflix will be considered idle, the first is when you stay at the home screen for more than 5 minutes without pressing any remote keys or navigating to any movie or series. The second is when the “Are you still watching notification” pops up on your screen. If you fail to react to the notification, five minutes later the screen saver will launch since the app is considered in the idle state.
Unfortunately, there is no option to enable and disable the Netflix Screen Saver feature on your Android TV. And also, you can not configure any settings related to the Netflix screen saver feature like the start time of displaying the screen saver, which movies and series should appear, and for how long the screen saver will go off.
The TV screensaver automatically turns on after Netflix is idle for 5 minutes. It rotates through TV shows and movies every 15 seconds. In simple logic terms, every time you want to turn on the screen saver, just leave the Netflix app idle for 5 minutes.
To turn off the Netflix screen saver on your Android TV, select any button on your TV remote. The screen saver will immediately disappear redirecting you to the previous programming or the home page.
