Requirements to apply for a birth certificate in Kenya
The following are the requirements one needs to have before doing the online application:
- A scanned copy of both parents’ Identification cards. For single parents, you can produce one copy
- Scanned copy of the birth notification card
- Scanned copy of national identification card for those above 18 years
- A Scanned copy of the birth certificate for those applying for a replacement

How to apply for a birth certificate online in Kenya via the e-citizen portal
- Login to your e-citizen account
- Go to Civil Registration Department and click on ‘Get Service‘
- Click on ‘Make Application’ and get started
- Select Birth Certificate
- Click on the Application for Child Birth Certificate
- Click on the ‘Apply Now‘ button
- File the online application form provided and press continue
- Upload the documents
- Review your entry
- Once certified press ‘Submit’
- Choose the mode of payment and do the payment
- Download the Invoice
- After 30 days you will get a notification on your phone for the collection of the Birth certificate
