The Process to Get UMEME Yaka Installed

First things first, ensure that the premises are well built and properly wired by an experienced electrician from the electricity company. Once you are all set with that, go ahead and follow this step-by-step guide;

Step 1: Application

Visit the nearest UMEME offices. Request for Yaka connection forms then fill in the application form accurately. You can also choose to register or apply for Yaka online through the Umeme Yaka Mobile app.

Step 2: Pay Inspection

The UMEME team will visit the premises to verify if the wiring and earthing conform to the required standards upon payment of inspection fees within two working days. Pay inspection fees/survey fees through the bank and mobile money payment methods. This is what you are supposed to pay depending on the category;

  • Domestic/Residential 41,300
  • Ordinary Commercial (Shops & Kiosks) 47,200
  • Three Phase – Time Of Use – 88,500
  • KVA – 118,000

Step 3: Final Payment & Connections

After the inspection is complete and a digital wiring certificate is issued, the consumer must pay connection fees to proceed with the Yaka connection. Upon payment, UMEME will start the connection process and a meter will be availed between 10 to 15 working days. Here is how much you need to pay;

  • Connection with No Pole service – UGX 98,000 (ninety-eight thousand shillings only).
  • Pole Service with Connection– UGX 326,000 (three hundred twenty-six thousand shillings only).
  • Security deposit for domestic consumers of single-phase supply– UGX 100,000 (one hundred thousand shillings only).
  • Commercial consumer of single-phase supply and three-phase ordinary supply – UGX 200,000 ( two hundred thousand shillings only).
  • Domestic (Prepaid) – 326,000
  • Commercial Single Phase (Prepaid) 326,000
  • New Connection Fees (Non-Standard Connection)
  • Commercial Three Phase (TOU) – Cost after survey with a security deposit of 200,000
  • Industrial KVA – Cost after survey with a security deposit of 1,000,000
