What Are Twitter Lists?

Twitter List is a special list consisting of different accounts based on a common interest or Tweet category. Lists are a little similar to Twitter Feeds since both features show what people are tweeting about. The difference with the Twitter List is that you are able to see feeds from particular accounts that you follow or do not follow conjoined with a particular category under a created list.

The idea behind Twitter Lists is to manage and guide conversations in the Twitter environment and help people or businesses to follow tweets from particular people.

For example, if you want to be updated on the latest news from your home area. You could create a list containing different News Twitter accounts, and journalists in your area or you could follow an available public group that shares that particular topic goal.

How to Create a Twitter List

1. Log into Twitter and click on your profile icon.

2. Click on Lists from the drop-down menu.

3. Tap on Create new List (Document with a plus sign icon) at the bottom right corner or upper right corner (this will depend if you are using the Twitter app or the web version).

4. To get started with creating a List you will need to add an image (optional), the name of the list, describe what the list is all about, and select to either make the List Private or Public. If you want to add an image to your list then click on the image icon.

5. Enter a title for your Twitter list and an optional description.

6. Check the Private or Public box to determine whether the list will be visible to others. If you make the list private, people will not be notified.

7. Click on the Next button at the top right corner.

8. On the next page, you will be able to see accounts on your list, or suggested accounts that you would like to add to your list. After adding accounts, click on “DONE.”

9. You will be referred to the lists page where you will be able to view tweets from all accounts that you added to your list.

Quick Note: Twitter allows individual users to create up to 1,000 Lists, each with up to 5,000 users on it.

10. To pin your favorite lists at the top of the page so you can access them quickly, go to the lists page, scroll down to the Your Lists section, and tap on the pin icon against the List that you would like to pin. To organize Pinned List, tap on “Edit” under Pinned Lists then hold and drag Lists up or down to match the desired position.

11. Under the “Discover New Lists” feature, you can choose to follow available public lists. If you click on “Follow” the list will be added to your Lists collection. To unfollow List, click on the List that you want to unfollow then deselect following until it turns to “Follow.”

12. If you want to share the List URL with friends, go to the List that you would like to share, click on “Copy URL” and then paste the link where ever you wish.

How to Edit & Delete a Twitter List

1. To edit your Twitter lists, Go to your Twitter profile.

2. From the drop-down menu on your left, click on Lists.

3. Next, scroll down to the “Your Lists” section.

4. Under your Lists, select the list that you want to edit, and tap on “Edit List.”

5. You can choose to rename List, add a new description, make the list private or public, manage members (add and remove accounts from the list) and also delete List.

How to Add and Remove Accounts from Twitter Lists

1. To add or remove an account from Twitter lists, Go to your Twitter profile.

2. From the drop-down menu on your left, click on Lists.

3. Next, scroll down to the “Your Lists” section.

4. Under your Lists, select the list that you want to edit, and tap on “Edit List.”

5. Click on “Manage Lists.”

6. Under Suggested, search for an account you want to add then click Add.

7. Under Members, Scroll down to the account you want to remove and click Remove.
