The 2019 Mobile Report

The Jumia Mobile Report is of its 3rd edition, breaking down how mobile usage in Uganda has defined mobile shopping for Jumia, being that 79% of Jumia’s traffic comes from Mobile users. This Mobile white paper not only breaks down statistics on the usage of internet for shopping in Uganda BUT also projects the future of mobile in e-commerce for Uganda and Africa as a whole.

The white paper has revealed that Mobile subscriptions in Uganda have shot to 55% of the Uganda’s total population (44.5 million), making it approximately 25 million subscribers. With such a humongous number of mobile users, indeed this is fertile ground for online stores like Jumia and other e-commerce sites in Uganda.

With the average price of a mobile phone significantly dropping from over $160 4 years back to now $80, yet specs are getting better & better and more value for the user, there is a pressure for brands to provide affordable devices. This is one of the key reasons for Jumia’s second big unveiling.
