Women in Technology Uganda launches the first Makerspace in Uganda.

In a bid to empower to support and engage women and girls, the Women In Tech Uganda launched the first-ever Makerspace in Uganda. This happened yesterday 8th October, at Hive Colab.

Women In Technology Uganda (WITU) partnered with Team4Tech and CADENCE to make this launch happen.

The Makerspace is aimed at empowering women through the provision of an open community makerspace where young women, girls, youths innovate, support collaborative learning, co-creation & build solutions for communities.

The unveiling of the Makerspace badge was unveiled by Hive Colab Co-Founder and WITU founder Mrs. Birungi Barbara and Mr. Nick Heaton, an Engineer at CADENCE

WITU will host classes such as electronics, computer science, engineering, or robotics. Class content will include lessons that involve workshops and hands-on activities and project-based. The Makerspace is located in Kamwokya, Kampala.

The launch was graced by representatives from Hive Colab and Ministry of ICT Uganda empower and encourage the women in tech to dominate and take on tech arenas around Uganda.

The special guest of the day was Leah Namugerwa, a Climate change activist. She appreciated WITU for supporting the girl-child in Uganda to join technology spaces.
