This week I wanted to activate WhatsApp calling on PC, so I set out a challenge to help me achieve this since whatsapp web doesn’t support whatsapp video calling on computer.
If you’ve tried using whatsapp on PC , you may know well that whatsapp web does not support video calling on PC which is very unfortunate .
However, this whatsapp how-to is about to share with you two ways on how to activate whatsapp calling on PC .
So , to make and receive calls on whatsapp for PC , we’re going to use an android emulator bluestacks or Genymotion .

How to activate whatsapp video calling from PC
Method 1 : WhatsApp calling on PC with Bluestacks
Bluestacks is an android emulator that allows its users to download and install android apks such as whatsapp , facebook and games on their PCs .
In order to activate whatsapp video calling from PC , we shall need to first download and install bluestacks .

After downloading and installing bluestacks on your PC , It’s time to show you how to enable whatsapp video call for PC . To do this , follow the steps below :-
Step 1 : Install WhatsApp on Bluestacks
To use whatsapp on PC , we need to first download and install whatsapp on our bluestacks emulator . We can do this in 4 steps shown below :-
- Open your bluestacks emulator on PC and navigate to 1Mobile Store ( This is bluestacks play store )
- Search for WhatsApp in the search field at the top .
- WhatsApp Messenger will pop up , Just click the Install button and then click Accept
- Now wait for some few seconds as WhatsApp downloads and installs on your Bluestacks emulator .
Step 2 : Configure WhatsApp settings on Bluestacks
After downloading and installing WhatsApp on Bluestacks , we shall need to configure and set it up before chatting or making any video calls on PC . To configure whatsapp , follow these steps:-
- Click Open WhatsApp
- Then click Agree and Continue button
- Under verify your phone number , Choose your country and enter a valid phone number . ( Remember , the phone number should not be in use by another whatsapp account . WhatsApp allows only one account per phone number ) . Press OK .
- A pop up activity will notify you that whatsapp is about to verify your number . Press OK.
- Enter the 5 digit code and click OK .
- Enter your name and press OK
- Now you have successfully installed whatsapp on Bluestacks .
OR:
- After entering your mobile number , you’ll receive a message in which they will provide a verification code and download option on your phone .
- Now you’ve to download whatsapp again using that link and enter the code and you’ll then be verified .
- If you’re not comfortable with this option , you can still use the step above .

After downloading , installing and setting up whatsapp on your Bluestacks emulator . It is time to see how to make or receive WhatsApp video Call for PC works :-
Make Video call on WhatsApp PC
- Open WhatsApp on Bluestacks emulator
- Open the Contact you want to make video call
- On top right, you will see video call icon next to audio call one
- Tap on it and “Start video Call ” Activity will pop up .
- Press CALL and your PC camera will be put into action.
Make Audio Call on WhatsApp PC
- Open WhatsApp on Bluestacks
- Open Contact you want to make Audio call on PC
- On the top right , you’ll see audio call icon next to video call one .
- Tap on it and “Start Voice call ” Activity will pop up .
- Press CALL to start conversation .
Receive a Video Call on WhatsApp PC Bluestacks .
- To accept a video call, swipe the video call icon upwards.
- To decline a video call, swipe the hang up icon upwards.
- To decline a video call with a quick message, swipe the message icon upwards.

Method 2 : WhatsApp calling on PC with Genymotion
Genymotion is a new , fast android emulator that allows users to run android apks on on all major platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux) .
For us to use whatsapp video calling on PC with genymotion emulator , we shall need to download and install it . The steps below will guide you through downloading and installing whatsapp on Genymotion :-
How to Activate WhatsApp video calling from PC
Step 1 : Download and install Genymotion
- Sign up for the Genymotion account.
- After logging in download Genymotion from this link.
- Download and install Virtualbox from the this link.
To install Genymotion on windows , follow these steps :-
- Double click on .msi installer
- Choose the installer language (the Genymotion language depends on your system language) and click the “Next” button
- Click the “Next” button again
- Change the path if needed (the default path is C:\Program Files\Genymobile\Genymotion) then click the “Next” button
- Click the “Next” button again
- Choose whether or not to create desktop icon. Then click “Next” button
- Click the “Install” button
- Click the “Finish” button
To install Genymotion on Linux , follow these steps :-
Open Command terminal and enter the following commands :-
chmod +x [DOWNLOAD_PATH]/genymotion-[VERSION]_[ARCH].bin./genymotion-[VERSION]_[ARCH].bin -d [YOUR_INSTALL_PATH]
It will ask for the installation like screenshot below . After that process Genymotion is ready to use. To open it write the following command below
cd [YOUR_INSTALL_PATH]
./genymotion
Step 2 : Install and configure WhatsApp on GenyMotion
- Login with your Genymotion username and password
3. Click add from the Genymotion home screen and Select a virtual device from the list and click Add.
4. Enter a name for the Genymotion virtual device and select Next to begin the download of virtual device.
5. After successfully installing Genymotion , you’ll see a list of your virtual devices in the home screen .
6. Select play to Start your device .
7. To install WhatsApp on Genymotion emulator , Go to the Default Android Browser and type “WhatsApp APK ”, download and install android WhatsApp APK.
8. Open it after installation, Enter your Country and key in your Phone number. Go to verify.
9. Wait for it to send verification code and verify phone number by entering code in space provided .
Step 3 : Whatsapp video calling on PC
To make and receive video call using WhatsApp on Genymotion , follow the steps below :-
Make Video call on WhatsApp PC Using GenyMotion
- Open WhatsApp on Genymotion emulator
- Open the Contact you want to make video call
- On top right, you will see video call icon next to audio call one
- Tap on it and “Start video Call ” Activity will pop up .
- Press CALL and your camera will be put into action.

- Open WhatsApp on GenyMotion
- Open Contact you want to make Audio call on PC
- On the top right , you’ll see audio call icon next to video call one .

How to receive a video call on WhatsApp PC using GenyMotion
- To accept a video call, swipe the video call icon upwards.
- To decline a video call, swipe the hang up icon upwards.

Can You make a video call on Whatsapp web ?
Unfortunately WhatsApp web does not support video calling with their latest video calling feature . So you may need to wait for this update or perhaps use the method shown above to make video calls on whatsapp for PC .
