WhatsApp pay is now the way to business on WhatsApp. We both know how WhatsApp has tremendously shifted into a business platform than a mere chatting application. WhatsApp recently introduced a number of new features and among the many were WhatsApp pay and WhatsApp descriptions.
What is WhatsApp pay?
WhatsApp pay is an in-chat payment feature that allows users to make transactions via WhatsApp to their contact list. This kind of payment service is based on UIP, and it allows users to both send and receive payments developed by NPC (National Payments Corporation of India)

How to Activate WhatsApp pay
Before you can WhatsApp pay, you must initiate a payment to a contact. Once this request is received, you can then go forward and set up your UPI account on WhatsApp. Also, make sure that your phone is on the latest version of WhatsApp.
- Launch your WhatsApp Application and go to Settings by taping the three vertical dots on the top right corner.
- Select Payment
- Select Add new payment method
- Choose Your bank you want to add.
- You will be asked to Verify your Mobile Number if you intend to add your bank account. Your WhatsApp number should be the same as the one registered with your bank.
- Click Verify via SMS so that you can verify your Bank account.
- Allow WhatsApp to verify your SIM Card, by checking if it’s the same registered with your account. After, WhatsApp will send an authentication text.
- WhatsApp shall verify your Number and display all Bank accounts related to it. Choose the one you intend to use and tap DONE.
How to use WhatsApp pay to Send Money
- Go to your chat tab on WhatsApp
- Select the contact you want to send money to from your chat tab
- In your chat window, tap clip icon
- Proceed and choose Payment.
- Specify the Amount you intend to send
- Enter the UIP PIN (4 digit PIN) you specified while setting up WhatsApp pay.
- A confirmation message should be displayed on the screen confirming the transaction.
What to Note about WhatsApp Pay
- WhatsApp pay only allows you to make transactions only if the UPI ID is enabled.
- Alternatively, WhatsApp Users can also use the QR code to send money to people who are not in their contact list.
- A WhatsApp user must enter the UPI ID first and then send the Money.
