Getting started and using the AI image Generator
To use Canva’s new AI image generator, go to Canva’s website by clicking or tapping on this link here.
Then, in the left-hand corner, select Apps.
Select an app called Text to Image. That is Canva’s AI image generator.
You can use it in an existing design or in a new design. We’ll use it in a new design.
After tapping or selecting use in new design, you will choose what you would like to create. In case you do not know yet, Canva offers you some suggestions like;
- Custom Size (Specific dimensions that are not standard or catered for in the options to choose from.
- Document
- Video
- Instagram Post
- Instagram Story
- Photo Collage
- Facebook Post, etc…
I am choosing Instagram Post. After selecting what you would like to create, you will be taken to the working area. You will see a blank white canvas with the text to image generator on the left. Click or tap on Use to use the text to image generator.
Then, type what you would like to create in the box on the left. You can be as descriptive as you can; include objects, colors, locations, surroundings, people, you are the creator after all. Alternatively, you can try an example to see for yourself how it is done.
I will type Drone shot of Amazon Forest, and select Create your image.
It will generate four variations of it. Double click or tap on one of them to take it to the artboard. You can further edit it, add designs, shapes, text, etc. from there.
If the generated image is fine and you have nothing more to add or change, select share at the top right corner to download it to your device.
You can download it in PNG format, JPG, PDF print, etc. After selecting the format, download it and you cn access it in your downloads folder on your device to use it on your socials or wherever you were going to use it.
