As you are buying Yaka Units in 2023, take note of these changes in electricity tariffs:

(For the quarter of January till March 2022):

The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has revised and sanctioned new electricity tariffs for 2023 in harmony with the principles of tariff calculation and the terms of supply of the licensees in the Electricity Supply Industry.

Because of the modification of tariff targets for UMEME Limited and Eskom Uganda Limited, the 2023 tariff base has been changed. The new tariff rates are applicable for the first quarter of January 2022 until March 2022.

The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has also accepted new qualification measure for the lifeline tariff in order that only domestic customers whose consumption does not exceed 100 units per month based on six months running average will qualify to purchase the first 15 units charged at a lifeline tariff of UGX 250 per kWh. The qualification measure for the lifeline will be examined from time to time by the Authority.

Also, large Industrial and Extra Large Industrial has both of which are high voltage 11,000 volts or 33,000 volts with maximum demand exceeding 500 kVA but up to 1,500 kVA and has now been divided into two blocks, Block 1 and Block 2 correspondingly. The Block 2 (Declining Block) Tariff of Large and Extra-Large Industrial Consumers will be applicable to the energy consumed above the limit determined by ERA for the particular consumers. The limits will be communicated to the respective consumers by Umeme Limited.
