It was last year when we made a review of Uganda’s 3 top brands which had monopolized the ride hailing business. One of the last and key things which featured in this review was Branding.
When it comes to visibility and ease of recognition of brands, SafeBoda and Taxify were kicking it. Both these brands have their colors striking and easily noticeable, with Safeboda having a striking Orange and Taxify with a booming Green.
UberBODA on the other hand was lagging behind when it came to rider recognition (and other matters reviewed), they had black for their helmets, a color which didn’t make a sound for the brand to be easily seen by active customers and prospects.
“Black for branding UberBoda doesn’t stick, but because that is what the Uber portfolio has for its colors – I wonder if they had any options? Normal bodas have black helmets, so it is hard to spot Uber and for it to stick in someone’s mind. You might argue that there is a logo, BUT my query is; if someone saw you at first glance, would they remember if that was Uber Boda?”
After making this statement in a review, Uber gave us an ear and 2019 has kicked in with a Blue for UberBODA helmets.
For its riders, UberBODA now has Blue helmets, a color which is easily noticeable – with the brand name at the back.
Way to go UberBODA, maybe if you follow through other points we noted out to better your services, Safeboda and Taxify will be served.
