Even more, other platforms like Cable TV, restaurants and delivery platforms have subsidized their services to cater to people staying at home.

Airtel Uganda free money transactions

During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Airtel Uganda has scrapped off all its mobile money transactions.

This means that for all Airtel to Airtel transactions, no money is charged. This is in a bid to ensure all cashless transactions since hard cash can foster the transfer of the Corona Virus.

Africell Uganda Work from Home Bundles

So as for it’s customers to smoothly execute tasks while at home, Africell Uganda has introduced new work from home bundles.

These include: Daily, Weekly and Monthly bundles.

Africell’s daily bundles are as below:

The Weekly bundles include:

  • 500MBs + 500MB bonus at UGX 3,500

  • 350MBs + 350MB bonus at UGX 3,500
  • 1GB + 1GB bonus at just UGX 10000

MTN Uganda FREE mobile Money transaction

At first, MTN Uganda had initially removed transaction charges on transactions below UGX 30,000. On learning from its main competitor Airtel, MTN followed suit and did the same.

Currently, you can now send money across MTN Uganda for free. This is for MTN to MTN transactions only.

Roke Telkom Uganda free online collaboration tools access

Roke Telkom recognized the need for people to work and study from home especially in these hard times of the novel coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

Just like MTN did by offering FREE internet access to educational websites, Roke Telkom is also doing an almost similar thing with Rokeplus. Roke plus is an internet connection that comes with free data access to the following online collaboration tools.

These online collaboration tools include: Google classrooms, Google Hangouts, Office 365, Teams, Skype, Trello.

MTN Work from Home Bundles

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, MTN Uganda also offered a cheaper bundle for its users to work from home.

You can only purchase this bundle with your MTN mobile money.

For UGX 2000, you get 1 GB from 9:00pm to 5:00pm.

MTN Uganda free access to Educational Websites

So as to ensure that school goes on while at home, MTN Uganda has listed down websites which can be accessed FREE of charge on the network.

DSTV offers FREE access to news and Entertainment

So as to ensure that Ugandans get access to authentic updates around the COVID-19 insurgence, DSTV was there to respond. Access to certain TV channels that offer news have been made available. These include CNN (channel 415), Euronews (channel 414), and Africa News (channel 417).

In addition, entertainment like Da Vinci and Cartoon Network, and educational channels like Mindset (DStv Channel 319).
