As years have gone by, Ugandans have adopted food delivery apps as their kitchens. Even with this growth in the industry, some platforms for ordering food online have closed (RIP SimbaFoods) and others have morphed into life (Hello Safeboda Food). This rapid growth in the online food delivery service in Uganda has created room for good authentic sources (with a lot of competition in play), but as well, counterfeits (who promise what they never deliver).
With many counterfeits out there, not every app you land on is authentic. Losing your money off to fraudulent app developers is not what we wish for you in such tough times. In this blog, we have tried to compile for you a list of the top food delivery apps in Uganda, tried by many, and trusted to be authentic.

1. Jumia Food
Jumia Food is Uganda’s largest online food delivery storehouse. It is an online food hub that is associated with over 70 restaurants in Kampala and Entebbe.
If you want to order food online, and receive it at your doorstep, this app should be on your list of run-to food delivery apps. You can find the Jumia Food delivery app on the App Store or Google Play store.

2. SafeBoda Food
Safeboda food is Uganda’s latest online food delivery baby. The food delivery service, birthed from the ride-hailing company Safeboda, has shown tremendous growth.
From when it was commenced later last year, a lot has changed with how to use the food delivery service.
This food delivery app is not only limited to ordering food from restaurants but also street vendors, local restaurants, and smaller food spots in your neighborhood. This is in contrast with its counterpart Jumia above, which is affiliated mostly to high-end restaurants.
The Safeboda app is available for download on both iPhone and Android smartphones.

>> Choose your location
>> Search for the restaurant of your choice and select it
>> Choose the meals of your liking and add them to the cart

3. Cafe Javas App
With the cafe Javas app, you can now order food from any Cafe Javas branch near you. This latest development one of Kampala’s most loved fancy restaurants has made access to food online through delivery easy.

The good thing is that you can access Cafe Javas meals through Jumia Food, for those who might not want to download the Cafe Javas app.
You can download the Cafe Javas app on both Android and iPhone.

4. KFC Delivery app
Just like the Cafe Javas app, the KFC delivery app serves only KFC customers.
With around 15 branches in Uganda, this famously known restaurant for serving finger-licking good chicken also offers delivery to your doorstep. Through the KFC Food delivery app, you can make an order of food online in Kampala, Entebbe, or nearby suburbs with a KFC branch.
You can also order KFC meals online in Uganda via the Jumia Food app too. These restaurant-specific apps are similar in design to Jumia Food’s user interface, and they happen to be already available among its restaurants. For example, you will find the Pizza hut food delivery app with the same U.I.
In my opinion, it is best to have the mother app, to save your phone space.

5. Pink Cloud
Pink cloud is another new food delivery app in Kampala. The apps are linked to a few restaurants which offer delivery food in Kampala and other nearby suburbs.
I got to know about this app when COVID times kicked in, and for first-time users, you get yourself FREE delivery.
Since its a new app, there has been a lot of bug complaints from its users from many unconvinced customers. I for one, this food delivery app worked well for me. I hope, however, that more developments are underway to make the user experience easy for those who might want to try it out.
You can access the Pink Cloud app only on Google Play store.
NOTE: From all these apps, you can only buy food from one restaurant at a time.

Hello Fresh Uganda is another fresh food app that gets all your deliveries to the doorstep. They offer a variety of vegetables, fruits, raw food, and seafood, all of which you can buy via their website or mobile application.
