Both gadgets will serve you internet, however the gadget you buy depends on what you’ll use it for .
If you’re planning on utilizing internet on both smartphone and laptop at the same time then i would recommend you grab yourself a MiFi .
Modems work pretty cool for only laptops or computers . Though if you’re aware , you can also create a hot spot using windows 10 and supply internet to other devices .
