Apps Running in the background.
This is, by far, the most obvious reason why your tecno phone is hanging. There’s nothing wrong with apps running in the background.
You might say, “Wait a minute. You just said that the apps running in the background are one of the most obvious reasons. But now you’re saying that there’s nothing wrong. What’s wrong with you?”
But before you scroll down to the next reason let me first give you clarification.
Useless apps running in the background are the main culprit. They feed on your RAM unnecessarily.
How To Fix it: Get rid of them. You will definitely see an improvement in your phone’s performance.
Lack of enough Internal Storage.
This is obvious, right? But a lot of users use up their entire internal storage often.
I suggest keeping at least 1GB of free space in your internal storage.

See, our phones have Solid-state drives (SSD). Whenever they are almost full their writing performance gets affected.
And when the writing performance gets affected, the overall performance of the phone, like carrying out various tasks, gets affected.
Operating System, not Updated.
Every year Android releases a new version of their OS and this means every year your operating system becomes one year older.

But What if the OEM decides not to provide your phone any more updates. Your OS becomes outdated.
Unfortunately or fortunately when a new OS is updated, app developers start optimizing their apps so that they can run smoothly on the new OS.

Clean Master App.
Install Clean Master App from play store. Some tecno’s have the mobile application inbuilt.
The application will allow you to clean the residual files and also scan for any virus or malware on your device.
Clear Cached Data
Go to settings>storage>cached data>clear cached data,
Go to settings>storage>apps>all>menu>reset app preferences > reset apps
Open Google play store menu> settings
Select Automatic update for Apps,
Go to settings>storage>apps/application manager> chrome/ search engine> Force stop >clear data,
Go to settings>storage>apps/application manager >Google play services >manage space >clear data,
Go to settings>storage>apps/application manager >Google play store> force stop> clear data.
Cached data occasionally freezes our phones.
Backup files on Google Drive
Instead of keeping huge files such as images on your internal storage, you can opt to back up these files to your google drive.
Google Photos allows you to back up images on google drive and reclaim some space as well during the process.
Don’t use your device for a longer period.
When your device is going out of storage, CPU temperature becomes high after long use, due to heavy apps, during multitasking, and others.
I’m saying that because I had observed this thing while using other devices coupled with 512Mb, 1GB, and 2GB RAMs, all hang when CPU temperature becomes high.
In conclusion
There are quite a lot of ways to fix the tecno phone that keeps hanging or freezing issue but these worked for me.
- Don’t use your device for a longer period
- Keep at least 1GB of internal storage always
- Don’t keep unwanted apps or bloatware installed on your device.
- Move all apps to your SD card (external storage)
- Clear all trash/temp files/cookies etc using Clean Master App
- use your SD card as a secondary RAM. Hence all the load won’t be there on your primary RAM
- Least advised, factory reset your phone
