I have always been fascinated by the fact that I could press the side button to end a call on my iPhone. This way of ending calls on iPhones is easily accessible and quick. However, there is a price to pay. There often times, I press the side button during calls with the main goal of powering on my phone so I could see the call duration and other things. Sadly, I end up cutting short my phone conversations. Why Does the Side Button End Calls on your iPhone?

By default, the power button on your iPhone is set to end calls when you press and hold it. This is a convenient feature when you want to quickly complete a call, but it can also be a source of frustration when you accidentally hang up on someone. Luckily, iPhone 11 models and later running in iOS 16, come with a provision to change this default setting so that the side button no longer ends calls on your iPhone.

Here’s how to Stop the Side Button From Ending Calls on your iPhone;

Step 1: Start the “Settings” app on your iPhone. This app is typically located on the home screen, but you can also search for it using the search bar at the top of the screen.

Step 2: In the “Settings” app, tap on “Accessibility.”

Step 3: On the Accessibility menu, scroll down and tap on “Touch.”

Step 4: Under Touch settings, go to “Prevent Lock to End Call” and toggle on the feature to prevent the side button from ending the current call. That’s it! There is no need to worry about the Side button suddenly ending your call. Moving forward, you will have to end your call by tapping on the “End Call” button on the screen.
