Site uptime is a very important metric to monitor on your blog or website and luckily enough this is now easier than before with site monki.

Site monki is a web tool that automates monitoring your website up and downtime periods, performance and others all in one place.

I have used this tool for close to one month and today I want to share with you a few things you may need to know about site monki.

The Good side of using site monki…

As a blogger, it’s very important to keep track of your website up and down times, because this alone affects the user experience which digs deep into the finances for running a blog business.

Before I was using platforms like Pingdom to check whether my site was off or on, however, this wasn’t an efficient solution. It wasn’t possible for me to keep track of when exactly the site was off and for how long was it off.

So I decided to look out for some better-automated tools to solve my problem, and the first tool I have been using was Jetpack. Next, I also set up a site monki account to help me automate some of my site monitoring.

Site monki Features

With this tool, you can monitor your website uptime and downtime periods, site monki will continuously send you alerts when your site was down and when it was up. So let us say it’s much easier to tell when your site is inaccessible through your emails.

The feature gives you a reason as to why your website was down so that you can have where to start while debugging the problem. I loved this feature a lot.

Domain monitor

Most times while running a website, we tend to forget deadlines like when our domain website is expected to expire and we may lose our domain to some online mafias who will resell you the same domain at more extra bucks.

The beauty here is the domain monitor feature will keep you alerted, site monki will alert you days or weeks before your domain is set to expire.

SSL Monitor

With the current website security issues, SSL is very important for any website, but even when you have it, it doesn’t mean you won’t have certain times when things go wrong on your website. SSL monitor will send you alerts days before your SSL expires.

Health Checks & Cron Jobs

With this feature, you can easily set up health checks to ensure that your website services are running effectively. You can also use the same feature to monitor cron jobs of your site and ensure they actually run.

Let’s see how Site monki weighs up with Jetpack monitoring feature.

This is how I can easily break it down for you if you want to choose a platform to help automate your website monitoring.

Jetpack is particularly known for monitoring website traffic for most of the WordPress bloggers and webmasters. It’s very difficult to explore much of the features this tool provides since they have a lot of them. However this may not be the case with site monki, the setup process is easier and besides, I don’t need to install more plugins on my website just simply to monitor my website up and down time.

Why you should use site monki over other site monitoring tools.

The good thing about site monki is, you don’t need to be a tech genius just to simply set up your website for automated site monitoring. The process of setting up your website for monitoring doesn’t take more than 2 minutes. Though if you get stuck, there is help on the live chat with the creator.

Pros

  • Easier to set up for website monitoring.
  • You don’t require a plugin to monitor your site health for WordPress users
  • Currently, the tool is free.

Cons

  • There’s a need for some documentation for non-tech savvies, for example, I couldn’t figure out what information was needed to set up my domain for health checks yet I was very curious about that feature.

Conclusion

There’s room for improving some of the gaps since they’re not very important things but may be helpful to some users.

Besides that thumbs up to the creator for the wonderful platform, I would recommend it for bloggers who need to monitor their site up and down times.
