As of March 2020, Safeboda has finally opened shop and started operations in Nigeria.
The Motorbike hailing service that started in 2014 has proved to be an African giant. First, it started out in Kampala, and slowly by surely stole the hearts of Ugandans.
Next was Kenya, and Safeboda’s year of 2018 found them dominating the streets of Westlands, Parklands, Mbagathi Way, Madaraka, Lavington, Upper Hill, Kilimani, Kileleshwa, and Riverside areas.

This Ugandan startup has made tremendous growth with now up to 20,000 riders in Uganda and a steadily growing 3,000 riders in Kenya.
The story of Safeboda opening up shop in Nigeria started in Rumors, and we weren’t certain on when and where the ride-hailing service was to initiate its services. The startup, however, had already opened up its Twitter platform as early as June 2019.
Safeboda is currently available in these areas of Nigeria. Ui, Uch, Mokola, Sango, Eleyele, Akobo, Jericho, Bodija, Apete, Ijokoda, Gate and New Bodija.
Currently, Safeboda is only offering the ride-hailing service only for Nigeria. Its other 3 services of money & airtime transactions, Safeboda food, and package delivery are currently available for only Uganda. Surely, with this expansion, these services are on the way too.
With this progress and growth, Safeboda’s goal is to make Africa orange, as that is their theme color.
How to order a Safeboda ride in Nigeria
First, make sure that you have the Safeboda application installed on either your Andriod phone or iPhone.
- Enter your destination
- Then check the price estimate
- Go ahead to order your ride
- After ordering, wait for the rider to get to you (You are able to observe the rider’s movements as they approach you)
- Finally, when the rider arrives, enjoy your ride to your destination
