SafeBoda finally launched a car service, SafeCar.
SafeBoda has excitedly launched SafeCar in their Super App with a safer, more convenient solution than what is offered in the Ugandan and Nigerian markets. It spoke to its drivers and passengers, tested its new product, and is changing transportation in Uganda.

The Evolution of SafeBoda
SafeBoda started initially as an app linking Boda Boda drivers to customers. But that has changed. These are some of the new services SafeBoda currently offers as of 2022:
- 1. Car lifts (SafeCar)
- 2. Buying Airtime & Data
- 3. Paying Bills
- 4. Delivering Packages
- 5. Sending money
and so much more
What is SafeCar?
In addition to the Boda Bodas, SafeBoda has introduced cars to its app. This has supplemented some already existing car services like uber and bolt in Uganda.
There are some changes though on the SafeCar that do not strictly apply to SafeBodas. This particularly applies to the way customers pay at the end of each ride.
With SafeBodas, you pay in cash or cashless. With SafeCar, all payments are cashless.
How do I order a SafeCar?
SafeCars can be ordered the same way SafeBodas are ordered using the SafeBoda app. To do this,
- Launch the app and choose the option of Order a SafeCar.
- Search for the destination.
- Select a Pickup station and tap on Confirm button.
- View the cost estimation then select a payment method. You can pay using your safeboda wallet or pay with cash.
- Tap on Order and wait for your ride.
How do I become a SafeCar driver?
To become a driver, you can apply online on their website and later go to their offices for further screening. But before you head over there, these are some of the minimum requirements you have to be having to stand a chance of becoming a driver:
- 1. Your car has to have valid insurance.
- 2. The minimum driving experience you should be having is 3 years (licensed driving).
- 3. You should be 21 and over in age
- 4. Your car has to have 4 doors with exception of the boot.
- 5. Your driver’s license should be valid.
About SafeBoda Uganda
SafeBoda is an app that links Boda Boda drivers to customers. To use SafeBoda, you have to have the SafeBoda app installed on your device. The app can be installed from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
To order a rider, you launch the app and allow the app to access your location (your device has to have access to an internet connection). By letting the app access your location, you are allowing SafeBoda to pair you with the nearest driver to you.
You are notified of the driver’s name, helmet number, or vest number shortly afterward. Then you receive a call from him asking where exactly you are and he comes and picks you up to take you to where you are going.
Conclusion
SafeBoda has transformed Uganda’s transport sector. Most especially with their safe, disciplined Boda Boda drivers. Their riders are safer to ride with compared to regular Boda drivers.
