Last month, SafeBoda announced the introduction of SafeBoda food to its list of services. This didn’t take very long, SafeBoda has finally launched a food delivery service in their latest app update.
This new change has come months after SafeBoda announced its plan to introduce a food delivery service in Nigeria too. Hopefully, Nigeria too should get ready for its SafeBoda food delivery service.
Now that Safeboda Uganda has introduced a food delivery service to its portfolio, I am sure you are curious about what it is and how you can use it. Follow through with me and find out how to.

What is SafeBoda food?
Just like Jumia Food, SafeBoda food is a food delivery service that offers food to its users. Safeboda has partnered with local restaurants and food providers to provide all kinds of foods for its customers.
From your favorite restaurant, you can now order a bite and have it delivered safely by a SafeBoda.
Being that this is new, they are mostly connected with local food restaurants and street vendors, so you won’t find KFC or Java House on your list of restaurants yet.

How to order using SafeBoda food
Being that I am a very curious person, I have tried using this new food delivery service to order a meal for myself. Here are the steps you too can follow to order using Safeboda’s latest food delivery service.
- Open the Safeboda app.
- After, select the Food option
- Then click on the ORDER FOOD option. After, you will be shown with a list of restaurants as you can see below.
After that, scroll through to choose from the existing food options. As you can see, the product is new and so far, mostly Street Vendors and Local restaurants are Safeboda’s existing food providers.
4. Choose a restaurant/food vendor of your choice
5. Add the food option of your choice
6. Select other items of your choice, and add the item
7. You will then be shown the total price of the product, which you can order thereafter.
So as to place an order, you have to ADD ITEM first, and then you will be redirected to the pricing interface.
On that interface, you can choose to pay with “Cashless” or “Cash“.
If you are to use the SafeBoda Cashless option, you are given a discount (as you can see on the screenshot below). However, for the Cash option, there is no discount offered.
However, orders once placed cannot be canceled.
Our thoughts
Safeboda having a large number of over 20,000 riders, they have a large base of riders to bank on. SafeBoda, however, lands into a market that is dominated by Jumia Food and other competitors in Uganda such as Simba Foods plus other restaurants with their custom food delivery options.
In the near future, SafeBoda will add more restaurants and food providers, and with its large customer base, there is a high possibility of success.
