This was announced this Tuesday, in a bid to gear up Ugandans for the plans Roke Telkom has to improve internet access in remote areas communities through this partnership with Hello World.

HelloWorld Hubs are solar-powered, outdoor, Internet-connected computer kiosks, designed to provide communities with access to educational software, games, video and communication platforms.

In order to improve access to information and provide digital education where it’s needed most, Hello World is set out to build 14 Hubs which will provide children with limitless education and the chance to change their future.

“This partnership has been made so as to roll out internet connection across Uganda, so as to close the education gap and help children connect to the world.” – Katrin McMillan, CEO Hello World.

We don’t build Hello Hubs. We partner with communities, and teach them how to build Hello Hubs, Katrina McMillan continued to say.

“Roke Telkom is happy to partner with Hello World in extending the internet to the upcountry communities that are underserved with the internet” – Roger Sekaziga, CEO Roke Telkom

Each Hub provides a WiFi hotspot, and it is FREE.

Currently, 2 hubs will be built near Kampala, 2 hubs in FortPortal and 10 hubs in Nakivaale Refugee camp so as to bridge the digital divide.
