The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a statutory government agency in Uganda that manages social security contributions for employees in the country. Under the current NSSF Act cap 222, it is a requirement for employers to register their companies/businesses for the NSSF voluntary membership plan. This applies to all employers, including those who may be the only employees of their businesses. The enrollment process falls under the Voluntary Employers category. Once membership enrollment is complete, individuals or employers will have to make monthly contributions to the selected membership plan. Therefore, it is important for employers to understand the process of paying NSSF contributions to ensure compliance with the law and avoid penalties. In this article, we will provide a step-by-step guide on how to pay NSSF contributions using MTN mobile money (*165*6#) and Airtel Money (*165*7#) in Uganda.
How to Pay NSSF Contributions using Airtel Money
1. Dial *185*7# using your Airtel line.
2. Select option 5, NSSF Savings.
3. Choose the NSSF Savings type that you want to make contributions. There are three options, MidTerm Savings, Individual Savings, and Employer Savings.
4. You will be redirected to a new page where you will be prompted to enter your NSSF number. Do so to proceed.
5. Enter the amount that you are willing to contribute.
6. Confirm the transaction with your Airtel Money PIN.

How to Pay NSSF Contributions using MTN Mobile Money
1. Dial *165*6# using your MTN line.
2. Go for option 4, Pension Schemes.
3. Under Pension schemes, select NSSF.
4. Choose option 1, Contributions.
5. Select contribution type between Employer and Individual.
6. Enter the NSSF number.
7. Key in the amount that you are willing to contribute.
8. Confirm the transaction with your MTN Mobile Money PIN.
