Payment of Motor third-party Insurance taxes is now simple and convenient thanks to the mandatory mobile money inclusion payment method. This was introduced by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda on 1st July 2020. The new motor third party mobile payment method is currently available on MTN and Airtel Uganda only. What is Motor Third-Party Insurance?

Motor third party insurance is a tax policy introduced in 1989 to protect motorists and other road users (third parties) in the event of an accident. This insurance policy is mandatory to all vehicle owners.

Pay For Motor Third-Party Insurance Using MTN Mobile Money

Follow the these steps to pay Motor 3rd Party Insurance taxes using MTN Mobile Money;

  • Dial *165#.
  • Opt for option 4, Payments.
  • Select option 5, Fees and Taxes.
  • Choose option 5, Motor Insurance 3rd Party.
  • Fill in your car number plate or motorbike number plate (don’t worry about the letter case and leave space between the digits).
  • The car or motorbike details and amount to pay will be automatically displayed.
  • Confirm with your 5 digit MTN Mobile Money Pin.
  • The sticker code reference will be sent to you via short messaging services (SMS).
  • Present the reference to any Insurance company or insurance agent shop. They will verify the details and a physical sticker will be handed to you.
  • Go ahead and post the sticker on your vehicle.

  • Dial *185#.
  • Opt for Financial Services which is Option 7.
  • Choose option 6, Insurance.
  • Select option 1, Motor 3rd Party.
  • Fill in your car number plate or motor bike number plate (do not worry about the letter case and leave space between the digits).
  • The vehicle or motorbike details and amount to pay will be automatically displayed.
  • Confirm with your 4 digit Airtel Money Pin.
  • The sticker code reference will be sent to you via short messaging services (SMS).
  • Present the reference to any Insurance company or insurance agent shop. They will verify the details and a physical sticker will be handed to you.
  • Go ahead and post the sticker on your vehicle.
