How to make online purchases on ecommerce platforms in Uganda .
Buying and selling online is taking off at a faster rate in Uganda with over 1% of Ugandans embracing this innovative technology. We have several eCommerce platforms in Uganda namely Jumia, Kilimall, and many others. However, how do you make purchases on these platforms?
It’s easy. Several e-commerce platforms in Uganda allow their users to buy using mobile money services or even bank credit accounts. So it’s easy to shop online in Uganda unlike globally.
Step by step
The following steps can help you to buy products on almost every eCommerce platform in Uganda.
Select the product of preference on any e-commerce platform and add to cart.
Browse to the cart section on the website and select continue to check out
If you’re a new visitor, you’ll be asked to fill in some details before cashing out.
After entering the details, you’ll be asked to choose a suitable mode of payment. Usually, most Ugandan e-commerce platforms have cash-on-delivery enabled within Kampala. However, you can choose between mobile money or bank credit cards for purchase and follow the details. Below are some of the forms you mighty be required to fill.

- Using paypal. Paypal always Ugandans to make purchases online though you can’t withdraw any cash officially

- Using your bank visa card . It’s possible to purchase online in Uganda using your bank Visa cards . However the bad experience i have with this , it’s difficult to cancel subscriptions . So i would recommend you connect your visa card to paypal to allow payments online securely .
How to buy products on ebay, alibaba , amazon online in Uganda .
It’s no secret that most of these top eCommerce platforms allow payment using PayPal or visa. So it’s up to you to decide which service suits you best. However, again I would recommend using PayPal since it’s more secure. Paypal allows you to cancel subscriptions or purchases at any time.
So how do you connect your visa credit card to PayPal?
Steps
Login in to your Ugandan PayPal account & Select Settings > Link and confirm debit or credit card
Add your visa credit card details as required.
To verify your account, PayPal will deduct a small fee (usually 1$ ) from your bank account and the fee is refundable within 24 hours.
Beyond that, you’re ready to make any online shopping using your PayPal account in Uganda.
How to buy applications on Google play store online in Uganda .
First of all, you need to have a Credit Card and add its information to your Google account. This service is called Google Wallet which can easily be configured, either when you set up your smartphone for the first time after receiving your device, or when you are buying an app. In both cases, setting it up is exactly the same.
Once you set up your device for the first time or your Google account, a new page called Entertainment will appear. You can add your credit card info by choosing ‘Set up credit card’ and add your bank info just like you were paying for something online.
If you decided to skip the step at the beginning, this isn’t a problem. You can simply add the payment type of your choice in the Google Play Store when you click on the price after choosing a paid app. Tap on continue and enter your info. Your card is then registered for all your future purchases. You also have the option of using a PayPal account or redeeming a Google Play Gift Card. If you want to add the payment information at any given time, even if you aren’t buying an app, go into the side menu and select My account. Here you have the same payment options that you can save.
If you don’t want to use your credit card, you can log in with PayPal or redeem a Gift Card
Once this step is done, you can now not only buy apps but also music, movies, and books from Google Play without needing to add the information anew. After the purchase is complete, you will receive an email that confirms your transaction as well as your payment details.
