MTN Uganda is the leading telecom company in the country. This is attributed to the amazing SMS, data, and voice bundles. The telecom company also offers mobile money services commonly dubbed MTN MoMo or MTN Mobile Money. MTN MoMo allows customers to pay bills, deposit cash, send and receive money. As much as you can send money from MTN to MTN customers, you can also send money to other networks like Airtel, and Uganda Telecom. For every sending transaction, MTN will deduct money from your MoMo account. Luckily, MTN has made the decision to revise rates for sending money to other networks.
Effective on the 8th of April 2022, MTN revised new rates for sending money to other networks in Uganda. The sending rates charged per sending transition to other networks have since dropped by nearly 50%. Earlier on, customers would be charged UGX 830 to send between UGX 500 to UGX 2,500 to other networks. With the revised rates, the customer will be charged only UGX 330 for a sending transaction to other networks saving approximately UGX 500.
Although the sending rates have been revised, a thorough comparison clearly states that the rates for sending money from MTN to other networks are still high. For instance, if you send UGX 500 from your MTN MoMo account to another MTN MoMo account, you will be charged only UGX 30 as sending fee, and for MTN MoMo to Airtel Money or M-sente, you will be charged UGX 330.
