MTN Uganda Launches MTN Digital Sports Hub

MTN Uganda launched its first ever sports website on 23rd July dubbed “MTN Sports” amidst the Tokyo Olympics fever and second lockdown in Uganda which has limited physical sports involvement. The official website www.sports.mtn.co.ug is the MTN sports digital hub that reports the latest trending sports stories on Ugandan upcoming and prolific home grown talent.

During the MTN Sports website launch, Somdev Sen, the MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer said that MTN Uganda decided to unveil the MTN digital sports hub, with a single goal of providing comprehensive sports stories to Ugandan sports lovers. According to Somdev the idea was fueled by the prevailing circumstances that have limited fans physical involvement at sports facilities.

“That is why we have decided to bring the fun and thrill closer on the screens of our customers,” said Somdev.

Over the last 20 years, MTN has positioned its self at the top list of supporting Uganda local sports disciplines through sponsorships and partnerships.

“Over the years, we have been big supporters of various sports disciplines in Uganda, including MTN Marathon, our support to broadcasting of the StarTimes Uganda premier football league, our continued partnership with local football clubs like KCCA and Onduparaka and support to talent development in other institutions, among others. Local sports, continues to be a major pillar in our sponsorship strategy,” Somdev further said.

Somdev adds that the excitement of sports has spread beyond the confines of stadia and captured the hearts and minds of many through the internet world wide. As such, the new MTN sports website will bridge the gaps by providing the latest information about Ugandan sports.

At the first glance of the sports portal, your eyes wander through the various available menus ranging from Uganda Football premier leagues to blooming athletes news and profiles then more trivia on golf, rugby, cycling, MTN marathon and the Olympics.
