Like politics, Social media has grown so vast across the world, Uganda in particular that, different personalities have grown their popularity over these platforms. Today, we can predict who is loved or hated most in Uganda by grading their fan base.
Today, I bring you the most followed Twitter accounts in Uganda. You should note that the higher the rank of one personality on social media might in one way or another contribute to their popularity in real life.
Social media has become part of us; it has recently shifted from a luxury to a necessity. Through this platform, news, jobs, and more important aspects of life are achieved. Today, we are talking about brands and who is the most popular of all in Uganda.
Brands can be categorized in terms of corporations, organizations, personalities, and businesses. Who’s your favorite brand in Uganda, Facebook, Twitter and Google itself has helped us know which brand people follow more and we shall share this in their respective categories.

List of most followed Twitter accounts in Uganda
1. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
We haven’t forgotten he is the most followed person in Uganda with 2.2M followers and he only follows 28. These include, HE Paul Kagame, NRM party, AmberHeartFoundion, Muhozi Kainerugaba, among others
HE Yoweri with his handle @KagutaMuseveni managed to rank as number one. Somehow, his political role must have contributed to having been exposed to a larger audience than the rest of the brands
2. NTV Uganda
NTV comes in the second position with 1.2M followers and follows just 445 Twitter accounts. Note that the figures might change with time.
NTV with the username @ntvuganda is one of a few Uganda’s leading TV stations that have won favor from most of Ugandan viewers.
3. Daily Monitor
There are two accounts with Daily Monitor, but the difference is, one has a blue tick and the other lacks one. We’re considering the one with a blue tick. That’s the official Twitter handle of Daily Monitor.
Its username is @DailyMonitor with 993K followers and follows only 279 twitter accounts.
4. Bobi Wine
One Ghetto Child who has something to say through Music has finally got something to say politically. He has won favor and attention of many people in Uganda than when he was only a musician.
Bobi’s Twitter follower count with the username @HEBobiwine has tremendously grown past the likes of The New Vision, and now sits in a total of 732K Followers returning on 265 followings.
Editor’s Update: Bobi wine now stands at 1.3m followers which puts him in the second position on this list.

5. The New Vision
The New vision follows in the fourth position after Daily Monitor. This can partially tell you who of the two Newspaper brands is read more than the rest keeping in mind; both are the leading Newspaper brands in Uganda.
The New Vision has a username @newvisionwire with a total count of 811K followers and manages to follow only 194 Twitter accounts
6. NBS Television
NBS TV is another Uganda TV station in the rank of the top ten most followed Ugandan brands today. It has rapidly grown from 568.6K followers now to 857k followers returning only 173 followings.
NBS TV has the username @nbstv with a Twitter slogan, always consistent, always informative, always entertaining.

7. Kifefe Kizza-Besigye
Kizza-Besigye climbs in the seventh position with his username @kizzabesigye1 and a total count of 691K returning only 627 followings.
He’s a political and Human rights activist, a medical doctor by training, farmer and business personnel as per what his account shows. He has been on our eyes for so long as a politician and I believe his total follower count can describe this.
8. Charles Onyango-Obbo
Charles is a Journalist, writer and curator. He’s social, I should mention that. Of his total twitter follower count of 459K, he manages to return up to 21.8K followers. Who does that? Only Charles I guess.

9. Red Pepper Uganda
In the ninth position comes Red pepper Uganda, @RedPepperUG with a twitter follower count of 417K and returns only 719 followings.
It’s another Uganda Newspaper we have seen in the top ten most followed brands in Uganda.
10. Amama Mbabazi
Mbabazi concludes our list of the top ten most followed Ugandan twitter accounts with 383K followers and following up to 9,208 twitter accounts. He was a presidential candidate in 2016, and you can find more about him @AmamaMbabazi.
Conclusion
I should have included my account as well, Nelson Nyombi, you can connect with me @nelson_nyombi, too social, with a total follower count of 2709 and returning almost the same, 2691 followings. LOL!! Only if I was a brand like those topmost followed ones above! Ha-ha….
