Banking today has been made easier than before with the introduction of mobile banking USSD shortcodes, people can now withdraw money from banks to their mobile phones, transfer money to bank accounts and do a lot of other things conveniently that would have required them to go to banks in the past and spend countless hours on tellers or in queues at an ATM.

With Mobile banking USSD Shortcodes for banks, customers can today instantly access bank services on their phones and interact with their banks like they’re at the banks themselves.

In this article, I’ll share with you a full list of USSD shortcodes for Banks in Uganda and their roles. This article has taken a long time to compile since we had to engage with some banks to get to know some of their Mobile banking USSD shortcodes.

Mobile Banking USSD Shortcodes for Banks in Uganda

Centenary Bank

Centenary Bank offers CenteMobile Banking through a mobile banking platform that enables you to transact and access their banking services using a mobile phone or device anywhere at any time as long as you have network coverage.

The Mobile banking USSD shortcode for Centenary is *211#. However, to access service, visit your nearest branch and fill in the form to register. A PIN will then be sent to you within 24 hours via SMS.

You can use the mobile banking USSD code to check Centenary account balance, reset CenteMobile pin, pay bills such as water & electricity, transfer funds from your account to a mobile wallet, subscribe for DSTV, GOtv, and StarTimes, pay for goods & services and many other things.

Equity Bank

Eazzy Banking is equity bank’s mobile banking service that allows you to access services via your mobile phone. Eazzy 247 access is available through MTN, Africell, Airtel & UTL USSD, SMS & internet services, mobile APP on your smartphone, making it easy for you to transact anywhere, anytime. Through Eazzy 247, you can buy airtime, check your balance, request for a mini statement, transfer money from your account to another account, request for a cheque book etc

Registering for Eazzy 247
You can register for Eazzy 247 at your nearest Equity bank branch. All you need is your ID and must be an Equity Bank customer.

Buying airtime
Buying airtime via Eazzy 247 is easy. Dial *247#, enter your Mpin, select airtime top-up, select own phone or another phone, followed by the account to purchase from, then the amount. You’ll immediately receive a confirmation message.

Balance Enquiry
You can enquire your account balance via this service. All you need to do is dial *247#, enter your Mpin, select the balance enquiry option. You’ll immediately receive your account balance.

Funds transfer
With this service, you can transfer your money from your account to an Equity Bank Customer.

DFCU Bank

DFCU also provides mobile banking and customers can access the service on their mobile phone by dialing *240#.

To use the DFCU mobile banking USSD shortcode, your number should be registered and enabled to access service from your DFCU branch. With the DFCU USSD shortcode, you can check your DFCU bank balance, transfer or withdraw money from bank to Mobile money, pay for bills, goods, and services all on your mobile phone.

Stanbic Bank

Stanbic Bank also offers Mobile banking USSD short code *290# for its customers. With Stanbic Mobile banking, you can make payments for school fees, taxes, water, electricity, PayTV bills, check account balances, make transfers from mobile money to your account and borrow for your needs using your mobile phone wherever you are 24 hours a day.

Post Bank is another traditional bank that offers mobile banking. Post bank mobile banking USSD shortcode is *263#. With Post Bank Mobile banking, a client can do the following activities

  • Utility/ Bill Payments
  • Purchase of items (locally within Uganda)
  • Virtual Visa (purchase of items internationally)
  • Airtime loading

Diamond Trust Bank

Diamond Trust Bank mobile banking is available via USSD short code *202# in Uganda. With DTB mobile banking USSD shortcode you can access all your banking services such as check bank balance, withdraw money, buy airtime, and many other services.

Standard Chartered Bank

With Standard Chartered Bank, you can access their mobile banking via USSD short code *266#. You can access the following service via Standard Chartered Mobile Banking USSD shortcode:-

  • Balance enquiry
  • Mini-statement request for the last 3 transactions
  • Buy airtime across all mobile networks
  • Bill pay (UMEME, NW&SC and DSTV)
  • Forex rates
  • Funds transfer to nominated accounts
  • Full statement request
  • Cheque book request
  • Pin change

How it works

  • Dial *266# You will receive the message ‘welcome to SCB Mobile Banking, please enter your mobile banking PIN’.
  • Select ANSWER/REPLY/OK, enter your 6 digit PIN and SEND. You will receive a message “welcome to SCB portal”, select service
  • Select ANSWER/REPLY and enter the number that corresponds to the option that you want to use and SEND
  • Upon successful completion of any transaction/request, you will receive a message – “thank you, you will receive a reply shortly”
  • You will then receive a text response with your account balance, mini-statement, or transaction reference number depending on the request that you made.

Absa

Absa mobile banking is available via USSD short code *233#. You can access the following services from Absa by dialing the above mobile banking USSD shortcode

  • View your account balances
  • Pay your bills
  • Transfer funds to and from mobile money (AIRTEL, MTN)
  • View your recent transactions
  • Transfer funds between Absa accounts
  • Check your account balances
  • Get mini statements
  • Buy airtime (AFRICELL, AIRTEL, MTN, UTL)
  • Buy mobile data (AFRICELL)
  • Do CashSend

  • If you have a debit card:
    • Dial *233# on your phone
    • Follow the prompts
  • If you don’t have a debit card:
    • Visit your nearest branch to sign up

House Finance

With House Finance mobile banking, dial *225# to access the banks mobile banking services.

How it works

  • Dial *225#
  • Follow the message prompt to enter your HFB mobile PIN number.
  • Press Ok on your device
  • Enter your 4 digit PIN and SEND.
  • You will receive the Menu Options
  • Select ANSWER/REPLY and enter the number that corresponds to the option that you want to use
  • Click send
  • Upon successful completion of any transaction/request, you will receive a message – “thank you, you will receive a reply shortly”

House Finance mobile banking service allows its customers to access the following services:-
