This guide shows you how to lock channels on DStv (Parental Lock). Parental lock is a control measure taken to stop children from watching adult content. If the lock is activated, children will only have access to channels rated 13 and below or 16 and below, or 18 and below. However, you can choose to block some Channels personally.

How to Set up Parental Guide Lock

1. Press the Menu button or the blue button on your DStv remote.

2. Go to Settings.

3. Opt for the Parental Control option and press OK.

4. Enter the default pin code (1234).

5. Select option 1, Blocking then Global Blocking.

6. On the Global Blocking option, press the right key button on your remote and select Personalise.

7. Select Parental Control (PG) settings ( press the left and right key buttons on your remote).

8. Then select FAM to block all channels and open channels that are rated 13 or below.

How to Lock / Block Channels on DStv

1. Press the Menu button or the blue button on your DStv remote.

2. Go to Settings.

3. Opt for the Parental Control option and press OK.

4. Enter the pin code. Remember the default pin code is 1234.

5. Select the Blocking then Global Blocking option.

6. Turn on Channel blocking.

7. Opt for Select Blocked Channels and press OK.

8. Select the channel/channels you want to block.

9. Press the return button to exit.

How to Unlock Channels

After locking channels, you will not have access to them unless you choose to unblock them.

1. Press the Menu button or the blue button on your DStv remote.

2. Go to Settings.

3. Opt for the Parental Control option and press OK.

4. Enter the pin code, the default pin code (1234).

5. Under Global Blocking, switch to No Block.

6. Exit the menu by pressing the Return Key.
