If it’s your very first time to import contacts from Gmail to android it’s a little bit obvious that you must have landed into some sort of trouble while going along this.

I recently lost my phone and had to get a new one, fortunately, I had saved all my contacts to Gmail which saved me the burden of restoring my contacts and all that sort of stress.

So in this article, I want to walk you through 2 methods I used to import contacts from Gmail to Android.

Remember you must have saved these contacts to Gmail, otherwise, it ain’t possible to import contacts that you have never saved on there.

Method #1 : Use Android Settings

To import contacts from Gmail to Android, you’ll need to follow some of these steps below:-

  1. Open your android phone and navigate to Settings

2. Under Settings, Scroll down and select Google ( This may vary depending on the android version )

3. Under Google, Scroll to the bottom and select Restore contacts

4. Go to From account and select Gmail account you would like to import contacts from to android. Google will automatically sync contacts to your device.

Method #2 : Use android Contacts App

In this method, we shall use Android’s default contact app to import contacts from Gmail to Android. To do this follow some of the procedures below:-

  1. Open your Android contact App

2. Tap the Menu icon ( three horizontal lines from top left) and Select Settings

3. Under Settings, scroll down and select the Import/export option

4. In the next procedure select your Gmail account ( one with backup contacts ) then click the Next button

5. Select your storage destination ( Copy Contacts To ) and then click Next

6. In the next section, select all contacts and Tap OK

7. All your contacts by now will be imported from Gmail to your android device in no minutes.

Note :

  • You’ll need internet connection to import contacts from gmail to android . So be aware.
  • Also you must have your gmail account logged in on android phone.

You should now have all your contacts properly imported from Gmail to your android device storage or Sim Cards.
