MTN and Airtel are the biggest telecom service providers in Uganda spanning all over the country. This article talks about how to withdraw money on airtel money or MTN Mobile Money.
How to withdraw from Airtel Money
Withdrawing money from Airtel money is a little bit different from the way it is done on MTN. The similarity is that you will be receiving the money you have withdrawn from a mobile money agent at the end.
To withdraw money from airtel money:
The agent you are withdrawing from will usually tell you to initiate the withdrawal.
1. Firstly; Dial *185#
2. Secondly; Choose option 3 “Withdraw cash”
3. Thirdly; Enter the amount you would like to withdraw.
NOTE: The amount you enter should not exceed the amount that is currently on your mobile money account. If it exceeds, you will not be able to withdraw any money until you enter an amount within your balance. The amount you enter should also leave room for the charges and tax. Speak with the agent you are withdrawing from in case you are facing any issues regarding the withdrawal process.
4. Fourthly; you will see a message telling you the amount of money you have chosen to withdraw and the charges for that amount. Confirm your PIN by entering your Airtel Money PIN.
NOTE: Your PIN should be a secret to only you. Please keep it safe to protect your money.
5. Lastly: Check your messages and read your phone number and the secret number to the Mobile Money Agent. Afterward, you will receive the money.

How to withdraw from MTN mobile money (MTN Momo)
Withdrawing money from MTN is more straightforward and easier as compared to the Airtel process of withdrawing.
To withdraw money using your MTN line from a Mobile Money Agent;
1. Firstly; Tell the Mobile Money Agent you would like to withdraw money from MTN and read them your phone number and the amount of money you would like to withdraw.
2. Lastly; A few seconds will pass by and the agent will tell you to input your MTN Mobile Money PIN in your phone. Ensure to confirm that the name on the screen reflects the Agent’s registered Mobile Money business incorporated names.
In case the USSD Code asking you to input the PIN does not come automatically, dial *165# for it to show and input the PIN.
NOTE: The amount you enter should not exceed the amount that is currently on your mobile money account. If it exceeds, you will not be able to withdraw any money until you choose an amount within your balance. The amount you choose should also leave room for the charges and tax. Speak with the agent you are withdrawing from in case you are facing any issues regarding the withdrawal process. Also, DO NOT share your MTN Mobile Money PIN with ANYONE! Stay Safe!
