If you are signed in to your YouTube account, reset assured that YouTube keeps a record of your watch history and search history. Your account watch history and watch history help YouTube offer recommendations of new videos that might interest you. If you want to trace the last video you watched on Youtube, then checking your history is a paramount choice. However, you can also choose to take charge of the feature by either pausing both search and watch history for YouTube or by choosing to delete all the past watch history.
How to View and Delete YouTube Watch History on the Web
Follow the procedure below to clear your YouTube watch history on their web version;
1. Start your browser and go to youtube.com. Make sure you signed in to your account.
2. Tap on the three-line menu in the upper left corner of the webpage.
3. From the popup menu select History.
4. All your YouTube Search History will pop up on your screen. You can also use the Search Watch History field on the right panel to search for a specific video from your search history.
5. Pause your watch history: In the panel on the right, click Pause Watch History to stop tracking your watched videos.
6. Delete specific videos: To remove a video from your watch history, find the video in the list on the left, move the mouse over the video and then click X.
7. Delete the entire watch history: To delete everything from your watch history, in the pane on the right, click Clear All Watch History.
How to View and Delete watch history on YouTube mobile app
If you are using the YouTube mobile app on a mobile device, you can clear your watch history by following the steps below.
1. Start the YouTube app on your smartphone.
2. Sign in to your YouTube account If you’re not signed in yet.
3. Select Library at the bottom menu bar.
4. Click on the option ‘history’ at the left corner in the library section. Your YouTube viewing history will be displayed. In the “Search Watch History” field, you can search the YouTube video, you have recently watched.
5. To delete Youtube watch history, tap on the More menu icon (three dots) on the video you want to delete and select “Remove from watch history”. Alternatively, if you want to delete all your watch history, click on more menu icon (three dots) in the upper right corner, select “History Controls” and then tap on “Clear Watch History.”
Quick Note: Once you have completely deleted all your YouTube watch history, all your video recommendations will be reset, but may still be influenced by activity on other Google products.
6. To clear YouTube Search History made by your account, go to Library, select History, click on the More menu icon (three dots) in the upper right corner, select “History Controls” then tap on “Clear Search History.”
7. To pause Watch History, go to the library, select History, click on more menu icon (three dots) in the upper right corner, select “History Controls” then toggle on “Pause Watch History.”
8. To pause Search History, go to the library, select History, click on more menu icon (three dots) in the upper right corner, select “History Controls” then toggle on “Pause Search History.”
