a) Searching for a podcast

  1. Tap in the search bar at the top.
  2. Type in the name of the podcast you are looking for.
  3. Tap on the podcast you want from the search results.

b) Subscribing or unsubscribing to a podcast

  1. Tap on a recommended podcast from the homepage or one you’ve searched for.
  2. Then, tap the Subscribe button near the top left.

To unsubscribe:

  1. Firstly, tap on a podcast you’re currently subscribed to.
  2. Secondly, tap the Subscribed button.
  3. Lastly, tap Unsubscribe.

c) Controlling playback settings

  1. Firstly, tap on the playback bar at the very bottom.
  2. Secondly, tap the icon with the 10 to rewind 10 seconds.
  3. Thirdly, tap the icon with the 30 to fast-forward 30 seconds.
  4. Fourthly, tap the 1.0x bubble at the bottom right to control the playback speed.

Tips to enjoy your listening experience of the Google Podcasts app on iOS

Tip: To sync your listening progress across your signed-in devices, you must sign in to your Google Account and have Web & App Activity turned on. If you set your activity to auto-delete, your listening progress is also deleted after the time period that you set. 

On your iPhone or iPad, you can:

  • Download the Google Podcasts app on iTunes.
  • Ask your Google Assistant to play a specific podcast.
  • Search for a podcast in your Google app or on google.com.

d) Find & subscribe to podcasts

You can find your subscriptions at the top left on Google Podcasts. To unsubscribe from a podcast, open it and tap Subscribed.

Important: When you play a podcast, Google Podcasts uses your device to request audio from the website that hosts it. This request includes information about the device making the request, like the IP address and what type of device you want to listen on (for example, Chrome, Safari, Android, or iOS).

e) Manage your queue

To add an episode to your queue

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Google Podcasts.
  2. Next to any episode, tap Add to queue.
  3. Items in your queue will have Added to the queue next to them.

Listen to podcasts on another Google Account

  1. On your iPhone or iPad or Android, open Google Podcasts.
  2. At the top right, tap your profile picture or initials.
  3. Tap Add another account or choose the account you want to use.
  4. Then start listening to Google Podcasts in that account

Listen to podcasts in your car

If you have Apple’s CarPlay you can listen to podcasts while on the move for iOS users.

How to Manually Add and Subscribe to a private podcast by RSS feed

Important: This feature is available when you sign in.

You can also add a podcast by RSS feed. Once you add it, the podcast appears along with your other subscribed shows.

In the Google Podcasts app

  1. On your iPhone or iPad or Android, open Google Podcasts.
  2. At the bottom, tap Activity Subscriptions.
  3. Tap More Add by RSS feed.
  4. Enter the feed URL.
  5. Tap Subscribe.

In your browser

  1. On your iPhone or iPad or Android, go to google.com.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Add by RSS feed.
  3. Enter the feed URL.
  4. Tap Subscribe.
