Google Drive comprises Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, which are a part of the Google Docs Editors office suite that permits collaborative editing of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, forms, and more. Files created and edited through the Google Docs suite are saved in Google Drive.

How to Setup Google Drive as Local Drive on Your Computer

By default, everyone with a google account is given free 15GB of file storage in the cloud or Google Drive. The other subscriptions are:

a) Firstly, basic subscription:

With 100GB storage at $19.99 per year.

b) Secondly, Standard subscription:

With 200GB storage at $29.99 per year.

c)Lastly, Premium subscription:

With 2TB of storage at $99.99 per year.

Whichever storage you are having on your google account, there is a way you can use it as Local Drive on your PC. Here is how:

  1. On your computer, go to Use Drive for desktop with work or school and follow the installation instructions to download and install Drive for desktop. 
  2. At the bottom right (Windows) or top right (Mac), click Drive for desktop Open Google Drive.

When you install Drive for desktop on your computer, it creates a drive in My Computer or a location in Finder named Google Drive File Stream. All of your Drive files appear here.​
