Setting up Apple ID

As a first time iPhone user, this is a unique login which when set up will enable you remotely access new apple products and services like iCloud, iMessage and make Apple store purchases if payment option is attached. To create the ID, simply enter your email and set a password and you’re good to go.

iCloud account

iCloud is synonymous with Google drive and is 5GB of cloud storage you’re entitled to as a new owner of an apple product. Sign in with an email or Apple ID to set up. Your account remains accessible with whichever you choose.

iMessage

This a free instant messaging app through which only apple device users can send messages, links, locations, audios and photos to one another over the internet. To a new user, you enjoy features like group conversations, iMessage apps and message sync over devices which allow for device switching even mid-conversation.

To set up, open settings > messages > and turn on iMessage. You can further select the means to send and receive messages by, that is by email/Apple ID or by your mobile service provider, of which the latter attracts a charge. You therefore, must be signed in to Apple ID on your device and have a working internet connection.

Facetime

Like iMessage, this is an inbuilt apple only app service through which you chat over a video call. The calls are free of charge and independent of your phone networks with the only catch being need for a working data connection. To set up, open Settings> Facetime and turn it on. You can choose to be reached by network provider number or email/ Apple ID.

Other features to set up include; Siri, Apple pay, medical ID among others. All the choices for the above procedures can still be changed in the settings app. That way, you will have set up your iPhone and can now explore other functionalities and all there is to offer.
