The first features you look at about a phone are the storage space and the battery life. If your phone battery can take a long duration while running background apps, playing videos or music or games, that’s a good phone.

When I bought my first phone from the time I turned it on, the battery reduced gradually every minute. It would lessen in each minute it was on. Immediately, I contacted the company that sold me that phone, and yes, they were willing to trade it. I didn’t have the foggiest idea that the issue was with the settings on the phone. So before I sent it back, I did my research, and amazingly the phone had no battery issue.

So before you rush to blame a phone company like me, check out the tips below.

Changing the settings

As I said, the way your phone is set determines how long your battery will last. Every phone varies in settings. However, in every phone’s settings, you will find battery or battery and device care or battery lab. Here you can find out how to optimize your battery/ turn on battery-saving mode.

Turn down the Brightness

Lowering the brightness makes a difference. At the top of the screen, there is a provision with a slider to reduce the brightness to your preference. Most phone users love a bright screen but in any case, if you find yourself with a low battery, reduce the brightness or keep your phone on ‘auto-brightness’ to keep the screen dim.

Close all your background apps

Apps guzzle battery. If you have many apps running in the background, be sure that they will drain your battery. To close the apps, go to the home screen, tap the overview button, and swipe up.

Download a battery-saving App

Even after closing the apps and reducing the brightness, you may still notice the battery life decrease. If this happens, download a battery-saving app from your play store to help optimize and save your battery. These apps usually come with additional features like recycle bin and a phone cooler which also minimize battery loss.

For extra battery drainage fixes, use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data. Turn off Location (GPS technology), sounds and vibrations, turn on Airplane Mode, reduce push notifications for Apps, put unused Apps to sleep, and use the original charger that came with your phone, restart your phone. Remember, a stitch in time saves nine.
