How to Add Contacts to Your iPhone
- Tap Contacts, then tap the + button in the top-right corner.
- Tap Recents, then tap the Info button next to the desired number. From here, you can create a new contact or add the number to an existing contact.
- Tap Keypad, enter a phone number, then tap Add Number.

How to Set up Contacts Account on your iPhone
Under the contacts section, you can set up your email accounts to share contacts with. If you have a contacts account, like a business or school directory, you can set that up too. Here’s how:
Step 1: Go to Settings, select Contacts and then tap Accounts.
Step 2: Tap Add Account.
Step 3: Tap the service that you have an account with. Or tap Other to set up a contacts account, like an LDAP or CardDAV account.
Step 4: Enter your information and password.
Step 5: Tap Next.
Note: If you have multiple accounts set up in the Contacts app and want to see contacts for a specific one, open Contacts and tap Groups in the upper-left corner.
How to Turn Contacts on and off for a particular Account
Want to add or remove all of the contacts from an account that you already set up? Just turn Contacts on or off for that account:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Contacts > Accounts.
Step 2: Tap the account that has contacts that you want to add or remove.
Step 3: To add contacts, turn on Contacts. To remove contacts, turn off Contacts, then tap Delete from My iPhone.
How to Choose a Default Account to Add New Contacts
Step 1: Open the Settings App on your iPhone.
Step 2: Select Contacts.
Step 3: Tap on Default Account and choose the account.
Change How to Display and Sort Contacts
You can choose how to sort your contacts, like alphabetically by first or last name. Just go to Settings > Contacts and choose from the following:
Step 1: Go to the Settings app and select Contacts.
Step 2: Tap Sort Order to sort your contacts alphabetically by first or last name.
Step 3: Click on Display Order to show contacts’ first names before or after last names.
Step 4: Tap on Short Name to choose how your contact’s name appears in apps like Mail, Messages, Phone, and more.
How to Delete Contacts on your iPhone
Step 1: Open the Phone app then tap on Contacts.
Step 2: Select the contact that you want to delete.
Step 3: Tap Edit in the top right corner.
Step 4: Scroll Down and tap Delete Contact then tap Delete Contact again to confirm.
Note: When you delete a contact, it permanently deletes it from your device. And if you delete a contact from your email account, you also permanently delete the contact from all devices signed into that email account.
