Apple devices will automatically connect your device to a WiFi network that you previously joined and also particular open WiFi networks in your proximity. Now, as much as auto-connections serve some sort of advantages, they also nag you when they keep connecting your device to unsecured WiFi networks that you do not want. In this case, if you trust a WiFi network you can just deselect auto-connections. However, if you do not want a WiFi network to connect to your device ever again, you can choose to forget the WiFi network. That way all details about the WiFi network including passwords and usernames will be erased. Here is how you can forget the WiFi network on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

NOTE

  • If you’re using a supervised device that manages the connection to the Wi-Fi network, you might not have the option to forget that network.
  • As an alternative to forgetting a network on your device, you can turn off Auto-Join for that network. Your device will still remember the network and its password, but will not attempt to join it automatically.
  • On your Mac, you can also drag the network to a lower position in the Preferred Networks list. If another network in the list is available at the same time, your Mac will attempt to join that network before any network that appears later in the list.
