It is always a frustrating moment when you figure out that your Airpods are lost. Amazingly there is a way to help you to track your Airpods real quick and get instantly connected. With your iPhone, you can easily find your lost Airpods in a few steps. This is only possible if Find My is enabled and if the Airpods are powered on. This article explains how to find your lost Airpods using the Find My function using an iOS device (iPhone).

Find Your Lost AirPods With Your iPhone

Step 1: Open the Find My App on your iPhone.

Step 2: Tap on the Devices tab at the bottom.

Step 3: Select your Airpods.

Step 4: If you are using 1st and 2nd Generation Airpods, there will be a Directions button, you can tap on it to open Maps and the last known location of your Airpods will appear on the Map. if you are using 3rd Generation Airpods (Airpods Pro or Airpods Max) are outside the Bluetooth range, there will also be a Directions button.

Step 5: If the Airpods are nearby in Bluetooth range, there will be a Find button. Tap on it to get help finding where your Airpod is hidden. Whether they are in or out of their case. Start by moving your iPhone around the space. Once your iPhone connects to your Airpods, Find My will let you know if you are getting closer or if you are further away from them. If they are out of their case, and you think each one might be somewhere different, you can tap left or right in the upper left corner to find the Airpods’ location individually.

Step 6: Whether they are in their case or not, you can also tap the sound button at the bottom right corner and follow the chime to their location. A notification will appear to let you know that a loud sound will play which might be uncomfortable if someone’s wearing them. Tap “Play Sound” to continue. Once you find your AirPods, tap the cancel icon (X).

Step 7: With Airpods Pro and 3rd Generation Airpods, you can turn on “Lost Mode” to get help recovering them if you can not still find them. Just swipe up on the handle and tap activate under Mark as lost. With Lost Mode turned on, you will receive a notification the next time the location becomes available. They will also stay linked to your Apple ID so if someone tries to use your Airpods, their location will be displayed. To activate lost mode, tap continue and follow the onscreen steps.

Step 8: If you need to remove your Airpods from Find My, tap Remove this Device. Once you do this, you will not be able to locate them using Find My and you will have to add them in order to find them.
