When you chat online with your friends and family, anyone can easily intercept and read your messages. However, if the chats are encrypted only the sender and receiver can read the message and no third party can access the messages.

WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption for all personal messages that you send and receive to ensure that only you and the person you’re talking to can read or listen to them. With end-to-end encrypted backup, you can also add that same layer of protection to your iCloud and Google Drive backups.

The feature is available on all updated WhatsApp versions on IOS, Androids, and Windows devices.
