In the era of Smart TVs, you can connect your TV to the internet and in return download your favorite apps. Similar to the android phone, you can download apps on your Android TV. Although your device will be pre-installed with streaming apps like Netflix and YouTube, you can still choose to add on apps from your favorite list. Downloading apps on your device is easy peasy and this article will share a step-by-step guide on how to search for a particular app from Google Play Store, download it, and how to get started with the app on your device.
Step 1: Launch Android Home Screen.
Press the home button on your supplied remote for the home menu to display.
Step 2: Open Google Play Store
Now navigate to the Settings app, click on Apps then select See All Apps. Up next, scroll down to and select the Google Play Store app from the list of app options. Now click on “Open” for the Google Play Store app to launch. If you are not signed in to your Google account, you will be prompted to do so in order to proceed.
Step 3: Search App that you want to download
On the Google Play Store home page, navigate to the search bar and click on it. In the Search field, type in the app that you would like to download and click on the enter button on the keyboard or your remote. If you have Google Assistant-enabled on your Android TV, just say it out loud after clicking on the microphone icon for the assistant to type it for you. From the provided search results, navigate to your preferred app and click on it.
On the next page, details of the selected app will be displayed. Tap “Install” for the app to be installed on your Android TV. Patiently wait for the app installation to complete. Upon completion, click on “Open” to get started.
Quick Note: You will not be able to download certain apps on your Android TV if a notification pops up “this app is not available for your device.” Sometimes this error is caused by device incompatibility, regional restrictions, missing device features, outdated software versions, and limited storage space.
How to uninstall Downloaded Apps on your Android TV
1. Press the home button on your remote for the home menu to display.
2. Navigate to the Settings app.
3. Select Apps.
4. Click on “See All Apps.”
5. Scroll down and select the app that you want to install.
6. Click on “Uninstall.”
7. On the next page, you will be prompted to confirm the uninstallation. Click “OK.”
