The National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA) launched a revamped portal to improve and conveniently offer its services to the citizens of Kenya. The new portal was created to reduce congestion to better services to a larger number of people. NTSA TIMS is a platform where Kenyan citizens can access various Government services easily online regarding motor vehicles. To register, transfer, book, and inspection your need to have an NTSA TIMS account. The Integrated Country Engine portal is accessible from both mobile devices and computers. If you are a transport company or manage a fleet of vehicles, creating a TIMS account can be very beneficial. In this article, we will show you how to create a TIMS account using the new TIMS VIRL portal.

The new TIMS VIRL Portal will help you manage these services:

  • Motor Vehicle Ownership transfer.
  • Vehicle Inspection(booking and payment)
  • Vehicle registration(both new registrations and registration)
  • Vehicle Records Management.

To access TIMS VIRL Portal, you must have an account. You can create an account as:

  • An individual.
  • A driving school/institution.
  • A company.
  • A dealer.
  • A financial institution.

NOTE: You still need the old TIMS NTSA account for the application and renewal of the smart driving license process.

How do I log into my new TIMS account?

1. Navigate to the TIMS VIRL website.

2. Click on the Register Account option in the top-right corner of your screen.

3. On the next page, you will have to select the Registration type you wish to register for. You can register as an Individual, dealer, agent, Financial institution, company, or driving school.

Quick Note: This guide is sampled on the Individual Account Registration. This means the procedures listed below might be a little different for the registration type that you intend to register. All you have to do is follow the prompts by entering all required information until you go to the complete stage.

4. If you have chosen an Individual account, select between Citizen (Kenyan native) or Alien (Foreign Resident) by checking the option that suits you best.

5. Now enter your ID Serial No and hit the Verify button. The system will retrieve the data already captured by the government. If your ID serial number is not found you will have to visit or call any Huduma Center or NTSA offices. This will happen if you have changed your ID or when it is a new one.

6. However, If your serial is found, proceed to enter your Mother’s Maiden Name then click the search button.

7. Go ahead and enter your KRA PIN and click search. Once your KRA PIN is confirmed the next page opens.

8. Fill in all the mandatory required information such as occupation, nationality, email, phone number, and physical address, which are marked with a red asterisk.

9. You will receive a code by email and SMS to verify both your email address and phone number respectively.

10. After submission of your details, a message will be sent to your phone, it contains your username which is mostly the ID Number and password.

11. You are now all set, you can log in to the TIMS portal with your username and password and click get code. The code will be sent, enter it and proceed to log in. That’s it!

Note: If you have an account on the old TIMS NTSA portal, you do not have to create an account, all your details have been migrated to the new system. To access the new TIMS VIRL system, all you need is to use the option of forgetting the password. Under the username option, enter your ID Number and proceed by clicking on send code option, a verification code will be sent to your cell phone.

Enter the one-time code sent. After keying in the code, the system will request you to change your password. Change your password and proceed to log in to your account.
