How to Create a Recovery Drive for Windows 10

When creating a Windows 10 Recovery Drive, use a flash drive with at least 16 GB capacity and plug it into your computer.

On the following screen, click Create to begin the process of creating your recovery drive; this should only take a few minutes. Keep in mind that this will erase all of the data on the drive.

The creation of your recovery drive will then begin. While it is being created, you will see a progress bar.

You will receive a notification that the recovery drive is ready. Remove the USB drive by clicking the Finish button. Keep the drive in a safe place so you can access it in the future if necessary.

Windows 10 Advanced Boot Options

If for some reason you are unable to boot into Windows 10, you can boot from the recovery drive. You will be presented with a menu of Advanced options to assist you in troubleshooting your system and getting it up and running. It has options for System Restore, System Image Recovery, Automatic Repair, Command Prompt, UEFI Firmware Settings, and Windows Startup Settings.
