Do you want to connect your MacBook or MacBook Air or MacBook Pro to your Android TV wirelessly? Well connecting your Mac to your Android TV is easier than you would imagine. If you own a Smart TV with a built-in AirPlay then you are only a few seconds away from mirroring your MacBook to your Android TV.
To connect your MacBook or MacBook Pro to an Android TV wirelessly, you’ll need all of the following requirements:
- The TV device must be a Smart TV.
- Both devices must be connected to the same WiFi connection.
- The android TV should have an air screen app installed to enable compatibility between airplay and Chromecast.
Step 1: Set up TV
- Plug the TV cable into power and press the power button on your remote to turn on the TV.
- Press the home button on your remote then select the Settings app.
- Under Network Connections, Go to WiFi Connections and Enable the feature on your Smart TV.
- Download and install the air screen app on your Android TV. Generally, android tv is only compatible with chrome cast devices and since the MacBook connects via airplay, you’ll need an air screen app to enable airplay compatibility with your MacBook’s airplay.
Step 2: Enable Connection on your MacBook or MacBook Pro.
Now that you are finished with setting up your Smart TV & installing the air screen app, switch on your MacBook or MacBook Air device, and connect it to the same WiFi connection as your TV device. Once you are done, follow the steps below;
Method 1:
1. Go to Settings > Displays on your MacBook.
2. Under the AirPlay Display, click on the dropdown menu.
3. Select the smart TV that you want to connect to wirelessly.
4. Upon connection select Arrangement on your Display Settings.
5. Select Mirror Display.
Method 2
1. Go to the Control Bar on your MacBook Air.
2. Select Screen Mirroring.
3. Choose the Smart TV that you would like to mirror.
4. Once the connection is complete, you can choose the option to mirror or extend your display.
Quick Note: You can always disconnect the connection any time when you’re finished by clicking on the TV name that you are connected to and selecting off.
